A Private Institute is the one which is not funded by government. If a Institute is funded by Government then it is not a private college. However there are some instances where Institute is founded on Public-Private partnership. Institutes like IIITs are based on Public-Private partnership. There is an IIIT Bangalore but it is not Indian institute of Information Technology but it's full name is International Institute of Information Technology.
