You can apply in for counselling in the MCC in General/Open Category even though you are from a category. But before doing that, I would like to warn you that, once you register for open category in the counselling process, you will not be eligible for the OBC category quota and other benefits.

It may also create problems in future regarding all the benefits in the OBC category.

So, please think accordingly and then choose what you want to register in the MCC website.
