Of course you may carry them to the examination hall. But there are some examinations which bar the carrying of external articles with the candidate as such. They provide their own writing material for the examination.
The scrutiny at the examination hall gates would tell you whether or not you're allowed to carry the said articles be it as simple as a pencil or pen.

Make sure you don't carry any chits or something

Some exams do allow but some dont they themselves provide u with that writing stuffs
