Yes, in Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board schools you usually have to choose one main stream (Arts, Science, or Commerce), so you cannot take full Science subjects with History as core. For becoming an archaeologist, you can take Arts with History now and later study Archaeology in college.
