Now coming to your question I want to tell you firstly what JEE( joint entrance examination) is. It is a examination taken to recruit the students in some top colleges of Engineering in India. It is conducted in two phases JEE mains and JEE advanced.

Giving this entrance examination and qualifying into it the candidate can get the opportunity to take admission in various government engineering colleges. The entrance examination conducted is for 23 Indian Institute of technology campuses, 31 National Institute of Technology campuses, 25 Indian Institute of Information Technology campuses and 19 other government funded technical institutes that is based upon the running and the score got by the individual candidates.

Now if you want to take admission beside these top engineering colleges likewise in some private colleges then yes they conduct their own entrance examination or somehow they directly admit the students on the basis of their 12th percentage marks then there you can get your admission without giving JEE mains and advanced exams.

Jee is conducted for admission in top engineering colleges. However there are some other top colleges also which are taking admission without jee score like BITS pilani, BITS Goa through bitstat. Some colleges are accepting comedk score. Most of the college in west bengal side like Jadavpur University accept Wbjee score for admission purpose.
If you are not willing to appear for any of these exam and want to get admission on the basis of higher studies Score, then there are some private universities accepting that score.
