Different colleges have different way of admission, some takes on the basis of entrance exam based or some takes on merit based.

In entrance exam you have to score the good marks and in merit based, your past qualifying result will be checked. In this case you do not need to appear for JEE Main or entrances exams.

Now, JEE Main is not the only exam, maybe the college you are asking has its own entrance exam, then for admission, you have to appear in it.

Dear candidate, you not mentioned the college name. Maximum engineering colleges in our country give admission on basis of marks obtained in JEE Mains. However, there are many engineering colleges which give admission on the basis of marks obtained in there entrance exam(conducted by the college itself) and some also give admission on basis of marks obtained in boards. Some Examples:

• BITS conduct BITSAT
• VIT conducts VITEEE
• Manipal conducts MET
