Yes, there are many candidates who pursue professional field such as engineering/medical having one year gap after 12th standard, and even if you intend to go for any degree courses then also you can apply, however in some cases there is no upper limit as such mentioned, but some college do specify candidates to have passed not more than three or five years as per their norms at the time of applying for admission, so this varies among colleges, but generally speaking you can get admission though you haven't elaborated much on the fact that have you already had one year gap or you're contemplating it, whatever it is make sure your reasons are strongly backed by your goals and ambitions whatever it is, if your gap year is because of some personal crisis then it's a different thing altogether though.
