A candidate is a permitted to appear for one or ut most 2 papers of GATE examination. But the candidate is permitted to select the second paper from the pre defined two paper combination list. For example if you have passed qualifying examination in Aerospace Engineering you can select your select your second paper from the following paper code while the first paper can be your discipline related

• NM
• XE

If you have passed qualifying examination in Agricultural Engineering then you can select your second paper from the following paper code while the first paper can be your discipline related

• ES
• GE
• XE
• XL

You can select either XE or XL as second paper. You cannot select XE and XL. To check the list of combination of two papers use the link below
