dont worry, a descent and sincere preparation can easily get you a good score if you start from right now.

8 months is pretty fair time, for GATE preparations you can go through the following:

first thoroughly go through the syllbus and have a taget specific approach, avoid getting into stuffs which are out of syllabus.

go through SK MONDAL notes , they are the best GATE preparation notes and  have benefitted many.

next also go through NPTEL lectures for important topics and topics which you are not good at.

also go through some good books based on your department.

atlast go through the previous years papers and practice a lot of questions and join a test series.
