Hello,

JEE Main is an entrance examination for admission to B.E/B.Tech, B.Architecture and B.Planning course. JEE Main paper 1 is for B.E/B.Tech course, JEE Main Paper 2A is for B.Arch course and JEE Main Paper 2B is for B.Planning course. So depending on the course in which you are interested you need to select the paper. You can choose any one or two or all the three papers and appear for exam but you can only take admission in any one course of your choice provided you must have qualified in it. Here is the paper pattern for each paper

JEE Main PAPER 1

• Duration: 3 hours
• Total Marks: 300
• Total Number of Questions: 90 (75 need to answer)
• Sections:

1. Mathematics: 30 (20 MCQs + 10 numerical value)- 25 need to answer
2. Physics: 30 (20 MCQs + 10 numerical value)- 25 need to answer
3. Chemistry: 30 (20 MCQs + 10 numerical value)- 25 need to answer

• Each question carries 4 marks, there is negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer. There is no negative marking for Numerical Type Questions.

JEE Main PAPER 2A

• Duration: 3 hours
• Total Marks: 400
• Total Number of Questions: 82 (77 need to be answered)
• Sections: Mathematics, Aptitude test, Drawing test
• Section-wise total number of questions:

1. Mathematics: 30 questions. Need to answer 25 questions) out of which 5 questions are Numerical Type Questions

2. Aptitude test: 50

3. Drawing test: 2

• Each question carries 4 marks, there is negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer. There is no negative marking for Numerical Type Questions.
• Drawing Test is for 200 marks.

JEE Main PAPER 2B

• Duration: 3 hours
• Total Marks: 400
• Total Number of Questions: 100
• Sections:

1. Mathematics: 25 questions out of which 5 questions are Numerical Type Questions

2. Aptitude test: 50 (MCQs)

3. Planning test : 25 (MCQs)

• Each question carries 4 marks, there is negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer. There is no negative marking for Numerical Type Questions.
