Hi...

The preparation for the MAT is not so difficult because the pattern of the exam ahs not changed over past few years and compared to the other management entrance exam like CAT or  XAT or NMAT, MAT is easier.

It is the high time and you have to start preparing for the exam.

You will have 5 sections :
Language comprehension
Intelligence and Critical Reasoning
Data Analysis and Efficiency
Mathematical Skills
Indian and Global Environment.

The last section is not considered for your final percentile so you can either attempt the questions or not it does not matter.

In mathematical skills the important areas are:

percentages
Time and work
profit and loss
averages, ratios
geometry

In intelligence and  critical reasoning:

Identifying patterns in number series
Relationships
Direction sense
Coding and decoding
verbal reasoning

In language comprehension:

Word analogies
Vocabulary
Synonyms and antonyms
Reading comprehension
Sentence completion
Rearranging sentences

Data analysis and sufficiency:

Data sufficiency
Standard DI tools like bar chart, pie charts, line graphs and data tables
Data comparisons

Time management is very important in the exam so make sure that you give mocks before you take up your exams. This will also help you to understand your weaker sections and you can concentrate in it. You will also have an idea of how many questions you have to attend so that you will reach the target without losing your marks in the negative markings, Take as much as mocks possible this is the only way to gain confidence and improve your scores.

Best luck
