Consider a transition between a metastable state E3 and an energy state E2 = 0.4 * 10 power -19 , which is just above the ground state,. if the emission is at 1.1 micrometer, find the energy of metastable state. plz explain me clearly plzzzz

Hello candidate,

According to the hydrogen emission spectra and the laser emission spectra for metastable States, the expression for or energy in terms of wavelength is given by the formula-

E3- E2= hc/wavelength, where is E2 is given as 0.4* 10^-19 J, wavelength= 1.1*10^-3 m, so the value of hc/wavelength equals 1.8*10^-22 J, so the value of E3 (meta stable state) equals 0.4018*10^-19 Joules.

Hope that this answer was helpful!!
