I can't answer your second college because you have not mentioned the college name. 

But regarding your first question, yes you can work in software companies after doing M.Tech. No matter from which branch you are many companies hire students from branches other than CS,ECE and IT. But if you are from these 3 branches you can get very good offers in some multinational companies, even if you apply off campus.
