There is a 100 percentage fee waiver in NITs for students belonging to the ST category for the sake of upliftment.

Hence, yes you don't have to pay the tuition fee which is the major part of the semester fee.

But, you'll have to pay the mess, hostel, amenities fee for sure.

Hence, your education will not be completely free but will be heavily subsidized.
