I dont understand what is you want to ask ? Difference between the general rank and ews rank or how it works differently.  What I can tell you is that in every state exam there are quotas available and accordingly ews is provided with 10% of the total seats. For example if 100 seats are there ,10 will be reserved for ews category.  And after cutting every category out , general rank can only have 40 to 45 seats at max.

There is quite a difference in general rank and GEN-EWS rank as general rank is awarded to candidates of general category and GEN-EWS is awarded to economically backward candidates of the general category. The cut-off of GEN-EWS is also slightly lower than that of general category.
