Dear Aspirant,

Hedonic happiness is the source of pleasure. Anything that creates a pleasant experience and leads to immediate gratification is considered. It is in accordance to the notion of subjective well-being where a person evaluates his or her own well being- based on:

a) Life satisfaction: The overall acceptance of the scenarios of life.

b) Positive affect: States like cheerfulness, joy, love

c)Negative affect: Anger, fear ,frustration.

Eudaimonic happiness is when the source of hapiness is self-realization, self-actualization, true purpose in life, reaching the fullest potential and a meaningful life. It is in accordance to the self-determination theory where a persona attains a sense of fulfilment and determination based on:

a)Autonomy: The ability of an individual to function independently.

b)Competence- The ability of an individual to be competent and progress.

c)Relatedness- The association and interaction with others.

Hope this helps. All the best.
