Tier 1 colleges are those that have the best:

Academics, infrastrucure, faculty, research, placements, alumni network and national/international presence. They also have high NIRF/NAAC ratings.

Tier 2 colleges are those have middle level facilities of the above parameters, and tier 3 colleges fall even behind tier 2.
