An autonomous college  refers to an institute  that exercises independent control over its day-to-day operations , curriculum, which is  opposed to a university in which the government or a government agency controls the academic programs. so if you have studied under any government and central university or colleges under the university  you have to follow the syllabus of  that particular university . however in some of the autonomous colleges curriculum syllabus , examination policy is prepared by college authority itself.
