Hello student!!
Here is the difference between limit test of chloride and modified limit test of chloride .
Limit test of chloride:
  • Limit test of chloride is based on the reaction of soluble chloride with silver nitrate in presence of dilute nitric acid to form silver chloride precipitate.
  • The precipitate appears turbid .The opalescence produce in sample solution should not be greater than standard solution.

Modified limit test of chloride :
  • Modified limit test of chloride is used for colour compound which cannot be tested with normal test.
  • The same reaction is used as that of limit test of chloride for testing.
  • The turbidity/opalescence from the sample has been less than the standard solution, the sample will pass the limit test and vice versa.
