When it comes to the major difference between mosses and liverwort between liverworts and mosses it's such that the liverworts contain lobate, green, leaf-like structures whereas the hornworts contain narrow, pipe-like structures.

Furthermore, the sporophyte of liverworts is short and small while the sporophyte of hornworts or mosses is long. Moreover, the liverwort gametophyte is a fossile while that is the gametophyte of mosses is usually prostrate kind of structural design.
