After SSC exam HSC will be good if you want to pursue engineering. After HSC you will have more options for good engineering colleges and also B.E has more value compared to diploma. Although it completely depends on your choice of interest. If you want to do diploma now then you can apply for B.E after 3 years of your diploma completion.

According to my knowledge, and my past experiences,
I would suggest you to take diploma if you are really interested to complete b.tech.
Bacause,you will be exposed to good practical knowledge about the basic instruments used in b.tech.
You wil be having great knowledge than the students who are from HSC boards.
So think in this way and decide it.
