There are several colleges in kolkata which take direct admission without appearing for any entrance exam. However it is highly recommended you take an entrance test. There are various national level and state level entrance exams- CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, JEMAT, MHCET, NMAT, TISSNET, SNAP, to name a few. This will not only increase the number of colleges available to you but also check your aptitude for the particular course. Some institutes like IBS, KIIT have their own entrance exams, you can check that out too.

If you want to do MBA you need to start preparing for the competitive exams like CAT/XAT/CMAT etc. Some colleges have their own entrance exams. In such cases you can directly take admission without preparing for competitve exams.
