Correct Answer: –26, –29
Solution : Given: × and +, 3 and 9 I. 7 × 9 – 8 ÷ 2 + 3 II. 4 × 9 – 3 + 8 ÷ 2
Equation I: 7 × 9 – 8 ÷ 2 + 3 On replacing the given symbols and numbers in the given equation, we get – = 7 + 3 – 8 ÷ 2 × 9 = 7 + 3 – 4 × 9 = 7 + 3 – 36 = 10 – 36 = –26 Equation II: 4 × 9 – 3 + 8 ÷ 2 On replacing the given symbols and numbers in the given equation, we get – = 4 + 3 – 9 × 8 ÷ 2 = 4 + 3 – 9 × 4 = 4 + 3 – 36 = 7 – 36 = –29
So, –26 and –29 are the required answers to the given equations. Hence, the second option is correct.
