For joining isro you need to clear the entrance examination conducted by isro in April every year.
The pay scale offered (15600-39100) is same as that of an IAS, IES but lower than that of PSUs.
The place of posting is mentioned in the offer letter if you are selected and called for the interview.
There are primarily 5/6 main places of posting. All in south/west.
1.VSSC, Trivandrum
2. ISAC, Bangalore
3. SAC, Ahmedabad
4.SDSC, Sriharikota
5.LPSC, Mahendragiri & Valiamala
6. IRSC, Dehradun
7. Some very rare postings in SCL, Mohali & Lucknow, & a place near Hyd.

Mostly mechanical engineer takes  1,4,5 post.
