Yes, you can get decent colleges based on your Class 12th board marks, not only private but some state government colleges also.

Almost every state has separate counseling for the state government colleges in several rounds. The first one is based on JEE rank of the aspirants & the vacant seats of the first round are filled by the Board percentages & College level counseling. You can get a seat as a large of students quiet their seats after the first round & take a drop for another try.
