Yes, you have to actually take admission in the college. And pay remaining tuition fees before the time of reporting. Only then your seat will be secured in that college. You have to then pay a further small amount in order to participate in CSAB round. You also have to get an affidavit related to it. Many NITs allow you to take hostel afterwards and you can only get admitted by paying the tuition fees.
