No, it is not mandatory. You can take in either paper I or II depending on the classes you wish to teach. As per the TNTET exam pattern , Paper I of TNTET 2023 is conducted for those who wish to become teachers for classes 1 to 5 while Paper II is held for those who wish to become teachers from classes 6 to 8.
