It depends on everyone's perception. A NITian will be at lower level than the IITian according to the relatives or someone else because they didn't much about the branch difference and ranking of the college,they just know only difference which is IIT and NIT.

Students will give you respect whether you are from IIT or NIT because they what you have done to be there and they know the difference between branches.

So, stay positive.
