During admission to any college self attested photocopies of documents by the candidate  are required to avoid any problem in future regarding the photocopies(they are real and valid).

For attesting the photocopies of  the required document you have to placing your signature while  mentioning date in the bottom or above at the corner,along with that  you can also add statement like "true copy of the original".
