JoSAA/CSAB, the counselling and seat allotment authority will take into account the following factors before allocating the highest possible seat according to candidates’ choices:

1. Category [GEN, OBC-NCL, SC, etc.] of the candidate

2. All India Rank (AIR) of the candidate in JEE Main 2017 rank list(s)

3. As per the priority order of choices by the candidates for academic programmes and institutes

4. Availability of seats in different seat categories/seat quotas for which the candidate is eligible

5. Business rules
