It depends , on what part of body you are having tattoo.

Actually it is student's own choice to have tattoo. It's today's ongoing trend also. if you have minor tattoos on unexposable parts like chest than , you can get saved as these regions are generally not checked .

But if tattoos are present outside body, they can make queries like reason for tattoo.. Bit you can not be rejected for that.
