Also it's a way of connecting you with your friends and family. Due to this, the colleges are asking students to bring mobile phones to class and also allows usage of phone in campus areas.

But, some colleges have strictly prohibited using mobile phones in campus as they think it is cause of distraction and disturbance to all students.

You can check the notice board of your college, it's noted as a rule if not allowed.

But, some colleges think phones are for their security and enhance the working. So, allows usage of phone in college premises.

Yes, mobile phones are allowed in the college, but use of mobile phone during lecture is strictly prohibited, there is a seperate locker facilities available for students where they need to deposit their mobile phones during working hours, the lockers are situated near the Information center.
