I haven't heard of paint technology yet as a course but still it will emerge in upcoming arts industry for sure. And about HBTU as I've read online it doesn't has a proper placement system. So overall it depends on your capablilty and how you can grow. No matter which branch you are. Just be the best for the best

The oil & paint technology department is the oldest department of HBTU.

Since no college offers bachelor degree in paint technology, & if you are much enthusiastic in polymer science then paint technology in HBTU is best.

In terms of placement , paint technology is the only branch of HBTU which offers cent % placement almost every year. But only if you are not a failure .

So overall paint technology is good branch of HBTU.

examples of manufacturers of panit are asian paints, nerolac etc.

You can also work in technical marketing of paints to customers as sales and marketing executive.

You can  also provide customer service to customers through customer complaint resolution.
