It is a very relative question like a particular stream would be better for me but it is not mandatory that it would be better for you also.

So, it should be solely based on your interest that which stream do you want to choose. It branch is fully non core and you will basically placed non core companies but for ece branch you can apply to some of the core companies also.

As such you should go with it branch as there will be more chances for good placements.

Sastra is university is famous for its computing branches like CSE and IT. Getting this branches is difficult but are great for placements, faculty and campusing, and salary packages. So short answer IT is better than ECE in sastra. IT provides better placement than ECE with major recruiters are Cisco,IBM,TCS,Microsoft and cognizant. To be honest CSE and IT are the two best branches in sastra. ECE is also good but compared to CSE and IT it is less value for money
