Ecofeminism combines "ecology and feminism".
Ecofeminism can be seen as a movement that connects the concerns of women with that of the environment. It can be viewed as a bid to emancipate both women and the nature from the ill-effects of Patriarchy and globalization that has affected both women and the nature. Women have been exploited by this Patriachal structure just like the nature,which has been exploited due to globalization in order to assert power and authority. Ecofeminism tends to break this hierarchy.
Ecofemininsm was established by French feminist Francois d'Eaubonne. Ecofeminism grew during 1980s and 1990s among women from anti-nuclear, environmental and several feminist movements that aimed to break gender hierarchy.
