Intial name of the college is Dr. D. Y. Patil Women's College of Engineering, later it is converted into a co-education college with the name Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Engineering & Technology, Pimpri, Pune in the academic year 2002-2003. College is recognised by AICTE and accredited by NAAC A grade.

D.Y. Patil College of Engineering offers a total of 22 courses in the Engineering stream at UG and PG levels across nine departments.
