Hello dear student,

Greetings!

EWS certificate is not compulsory for open category. Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in India is a subcategory of people belonging to the General Category having an annual family income less than ₹8 lakhs and who do not belong to any reserved category such as SC/ST/OBC (central list).

So , if your family income is less than 8 lakhs per annum and you want to avail the ews quota , then only you need ews certificate.

The benefit of reservation under EWS can also be availed upon production of an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority.

thankyou
