Yes, Since you have good knowledge you can always apply for IT Jobs and Companies allow all the students and make sure that there's no of gap more than 2-3 years after Engineering and you must tell the company what you've done for 2-3 years while you're applying for a job.

Every College has Career fairs in the final year of Engineering and it is bit easy to get placed in IT company and coming to off-campus placement it is very tough task to get a placement, So Try to get a on-campus(Within the campus) job 

If you have 2 years of gap then no problem you can apply to any company and Let me know your College name.
