.Ferric hydroxide forms a lyophobic sol. ... The hydrolysis reaction produces insoluble ferric hydroxide particles which undergo agglomerisation to yield bigger particles of colloidal dimensions. These particles adsorb Fe3+ ions preferentially from the solution to give positive charge to the sol particles.The colladial particles in ferric hydroxide carry positive charge and hence ferric hydroxide solution is positively charged

but from where that fe 3+ ions come from as all fe3+ ion is consumed in making fe(oh)3
