Along with qualifying Jee Main, there is another criteria for being eligible for Jee Advanced and that is the candidates must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in Class 12. 5% relaxation in marks for Sc, St and pwd candidates.Or the candidates should be within top 20 percentile of their respective Class 12 boards. And top 20 percentile means that you are ahead of 80% of the people of your respective board. The subjects considered to calculate these marks are - PCM, a language with highest score, another subject other than these four where you have got highest marks. But this year it's different. As all the subjects of class 12 of several boards have not conducted and marks have been provided on the basis of internal assessment and previous exam marks, many students have been affected by these. So this year, the criteria of at least 75% marks in intermediate or being in top 20 percentile has been withdrawn and among all 2,50,000 candidates who have passed 12th examination will be eligible to sit for Jee Advanced 2020. The candidates who will meet the qualifying cutoff of Jee Main will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced, the candidates just have to show their class 12 passing certificate. Even for admission to NITs and other centrally funded universities, this criteria will not be considered for admission. But it is only for this year.
