Medical Laboratory Technology is a branch of medical science responsible for performing laboratory investigations relating to diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. It is a must in hospitals and medical institutions for the diagnosis of various diseases and their treatments.

On completion of  the course ,students  can assist  doctors and other technicians  in taking samples, centrifuging, making slides, using specified stains etc, under proper guidance.Students can perform tests that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases as the program equips candidates with the necessary skills required to handle lab equipment and perform accurate pathological tests.

Students can also assume administrative functions such as reporting and recording results of tests conducted in the laboratory, maintaining accurate clinical records, selecting and evaluating laboratory equipment and new test methodologies and performing other duties as may be assigned by the laboratory supervisor.

They have also many scopes available in molecular diagnostics, molecular biotechnology companies and in vitro fertilization laboratories as well as in research labs. There is unlimited opportunity for the technicians in hospitals and medical institutions.

Diploma in medical laboratory technology is a course of duration of around one to two years depending on your education.  Some Institutions give admission after 12th or after graduation.  If you join the course after 12th then you have to do the Diploma for a duration of two years whereas if you have a degree ,you will do the diploma for a duration of one year with two semesters.

Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) Eligibility for almost all college's seems to be the following: 

Candidates should have completed 10+2 or its equivalent with science subject (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) with minimum 45% marks from a recognized school board. But the minimum percentage differs with each institution.

Some of the top DMLT college's and their fees are as follows: 

1. Baba  Haridas college of Pharmacy and Technology offers a diploma course in Medical laboratory and Technology which requires a minimum educational qualification of 10+2 with physics, chemistry ,maths and biology . .The total fee for the course is ₹ 73000.

2. Aditya Institute of Technology ,Delhi also offers a diploma in Medical laboratory technology. The total fee per year is around ₹22000. The eligibility is 10/10+2 examination from a recognized Board/ University with minimum 35% aggregate in Science, Mathematics & English.

3. Meera Bhai Institute of Technology also offers diploma course in MLT with a  minimum eligibility criteria for the student to be selected with minimum 35 percent aggregate in English, Maths, Science & pass in rest of the subjects in Class 10th. The fee is ₹6000 for the first year which will be incremented in the next year.

4. All India Institute of Public and Physical Health Sciences also offers Diploma in medical technology for duration of 2 years. The fee structure  is not provided  in their official site.

5. Delhi Institute of Technology and Paramedical Sciences offers medical laboratory technology for two years. Eligibility is 12th pass with 45% marks. Here also,the fees are not given on their official site.

6. Rajiv Gandhi Paramedical Institute Delhi offers Diploma on Medical laboratory Technology for two years duration. To be eligible ,you must have passed class 12 with science . It has a few structure of ₹45000 per year.
