Yes it is necessary to have the knowledge of English for merchant navy. Candidate who is applying for Merchant Navy should have good English and he/she should have proficiency in speaking English. Good use of words while speaking to your crew members , to your interviewer will present your good image in front of them and they will hire you for their training programs and as a officer on ships. In Merchant Navy you have to work all over the globe , you have to move from one country to another country .
