hi,

A fuel cell consists of two electrodes, i.e a negative electrode or anode  and a positive electrode or cathode which are sandwiched around an electrolyte. A fuel, ex- as hydrogen, is fed to the anode, and air is fed to the cathode. Material of fuel cell depends on the amount of energy or works purpose it would used. The electrodes are usually made of a porous mixture of carbon-supported platinum and ionomer or ion conducting electrolyte.
