There is only once college in Pune with genetic engineering course. Agharkar Research Institute, Pune is the only college with genetic engineering course. It is a government college and is affiliated established in the year 1946. But it provides only Ph.D course Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Genetics and Plant Breeding is a full-time research course offered by Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.
