Machhli (fish) paani nahi piti , kyunki machhli ka respiration gills ke through hota hai. Machhli oxygen ko paani se absorb karti hai , aur usse saans leti hai. Isliye machhli ko paani peene ki zarurat nahi hoti, wo apni saans gills ke madhyam se leti hai.
