Hello Sonia,

GRE(Graduate Record Examinations) is an exam which is held worldwide on majorly 2 basic formats. 

 General Test: It is the standard exam which tests students on their level of verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical skills. Now to brief up on the given topics on how a student is assesed:

            Verbal Reasoning: It analyses relationships among parts of sentences and the relation of words in a given comprehension.

         Three types of questions comes under it:

                        1. Reading Comprehensions

                       2. Text Completion

                       3. Sentence Equivalence

        The Topics that will be helpful in covering the GRE syllabus are:

                      1. Basic Sentence structures

                      2. Tenses, Idioms and idomatic expressions.

                      3. Pronoun Agreement and Subject-Verb Agreement

                      4. Modifiers and Parallelisms


Quantitative Reasoning: This section aims at masuring the understanding and management of quantitative skills of the applicant. List of topics involve:

                      1. Probability

                      2. Statistics

                      3. Algebra

                      4. Geometry

                      5. Pipes and Cisterns 

                      6. Order of Operations

 

And Last but not the least is The Analytical Writing Section

    In this part the applicant is given a topic or a so called issue and he/she has to write an        analysis of the topic for which 30 minutes are given. And then another analysis is done of      an argument which will also be timed and will be of 30 minutes. 

      

GRE Syllabus for the Subject test:


The Subject Test of GRE is used to measure the knowledge of the student in a particular subject which can be, :

         1. Biology

         2. Chemistry

         3. Literature

         4. Mathematics

         5. Physics

         6. Psychology

The applicant is supposed to have a mojor in one of these 6 subjects and the score achieved from this test is directly considered by the colleges that you are applying for. Along with this, your undergraduate records, recommendation letters, intenrships and projects are also considered and play a major role. The test can be taken worldwide 3 times a year i.e. The Months of April, September, and October.

hello aspirant,

gre exam is different for each subject. it also depends on which subject you are applying. there are two exams like gre general test and gre subject test. in gre general test , it s commom to all . the numerial apptitude, verbal reasoning, english proficiency is tested by this exam. and gre subject test is done by the colleges which you have applied to analyze your professional skill on the particular subject.
