Hey,

We are in food chain that are interlinked with other food chains and form a food web. The food chain consists of organism at different level and any imbalance in any level will impact the whole food cycle as well as the food web.

Destruction of habitat results in the destruction of organisms residing there. If the organisms get depleted or extinct it will impact the level at which they are present in the food chain. And that will surely affect the organisms at other level.

More the diversity of organism at a single level more will be the chances of least imbalance as more species will be there to take the position of the ones gone.

So yes it's very important for one to maintain the habitat diversity as the biodiversity present in the habitats plays key role in balancing our ecosystem.

Hope that helps.

Thank you
