see you can definitely crack gate exam, if you study smartly.  In 4 years b.tech you have studied more than 40 subjects for total of 8 semester, but the gate exam will only conducts on based on 10-12 subjects where aptitude and mathematics is common to all streams.  . for IT people you need to attempt gate from computer science engineering stream , and syllabus has similarity with IT syllabus. now, you need to make out the short notes and study the syllabus which is only for gate exam.if you start study now from this year you can definitely crack gate exam. however there is not very much psus which hire for IT recruitment, most of the students opts for masters course from cse after clearing gate. however I would suggest you to make your over all cgpa above of 7 , because sometimes mtech admission in iits your b.tech cgpa also matters if number of candidates is large.
