There is no upper age limit to appear for GATE. A candidate can appear for GATE any number of times. Candidates who have passed Candidates graduation in engineering/technology in relevant discipline from a recognized board are eligible to apply for GATE.
Your friend is eligible to appear for GATE 2022 even if she had passed B.Tech 9 years back. But if she wish to join in PSUs or Pursue M.Tech in an institute then she must fulfill the eligibility requirements as specified by the institute of PSU.
