There is no upper age limit to appear for GATE. A candidate can appear for GATE any number of times. Candidates who have passed Candidates graduation in engineering/technology in relevant discipline from a recognized board are eligible to apply for GATE.

Your friend is eligible to appear for GATE 2022 even if she had passed B.Tech 9 years back. But if she wish to join in PSUs or Pursue M.Tech in an institute then she must fulfill the eligibility requirements as specified by the institute of PSU.  The registration for GATE 2022 registration through GOAPS will start from August 31, 2021.
