If you are admitted in an engineering college, then it is the responsibility of the college to make their students learn everything from basics, be it coding or academic, and this policy is followed by every engineering college. So, u don't have to learn any basic coding from other sources, coz it will be taught to in the first year of engineering. If u want to learn, you can go fir it.

It is not mandatory to learn fundamentals of programming languages prior to joining in Computer Science Engineering course. You will get admission in CSE regardless of the prior knowledge of programming languages. You will learn various programming language as per the curriculum after joining in CSE course. However, if you are interested to learn programming languages you can learn before joining, it is an added advantage. There are various resources available such NPTEL Courses. You can enroll in NPTEL courses for free and learn. If you wish to get certification for the courses that you take up you need to pay the exam fee and appear for the exam and pass in it.
